Unfortunately I don't have any photographic proof, but this morning while clearing the breakfast dishes, I spied a doe and two fawns right outside our kitchen window. It was great to see them so close, at least until she noticed me and herded the little ones away. I'm sure that I'll be cursing them soon enough while we battle for the contents of the garden, but it was a treat to finally see who is making all of those foot... er, hoofprints in the snow.

Fawns? Really? Awfully early for fawns. I worry about their survival. Maybe they were yearlings (no spots)?

Of course, you're right, they were definitely yearlings and not fawns. Certainly no spots, but not as big as full grown deer either.
