A frequent reader had requested a picture of our backyard a few weeks ago, so here it is. I would guess that we had about five inches of snow at the time, we probably still have about the same amount, maybe a little more, but it's crustier and not as fluffy now due to temperature fluctuations. As you can see our lot is pretty deep, it goes back to the yellow and brown barn which our fairly sizable vegetable garden sits in front of. I'm looking forward to getting out there and working in it when the weather warms up. There are some nice perennial beds along the fence on the right side of the yard and around the shed, a small stand of peonies in the middle, closer to the house and various flowering shrubs and bushes around the house. The yard is flat and nice, excellent for bocce, croquet or the like.

This is a view from the back of the second story, we have a similar view out the kitchen window. Aren't the hills in the back nice? Very pretty when the leaves are changing in the fall too, though I didn't capture any pictures of that this year. The big pine trees that belong to our neighbor are very nice, unfortunately we don't really have any trees in the backyard at this time. Up until a couple of years ago there had been a very large maple, but unfortunately it received some extensive damage from weather and had to be removed.

On the left you can see what looks like bushes, shrubbery or small trees. I believe there are lilac bushes there along with possibly, some raspberry or other wild berry bushes, or at least that's what I'm hoping. What a treat to have fresh berries right in the backyard - though we will need to fight the wildlife for them, I'm sure. We've seen a lot of animal tracks through the snow. Deer and rabbits have definitely been making their way through the yard and I wouldn't be surprised if there were racoons and opussums too.

now that's what I've been waiting to see. Thanks for posting and describing the veg. and wildlife. It is simply beautiful and what a wonderful summer play yard for T. Much different from Austin with the pool. The house is great and now I can the land and surrounding views are exquisite. So glad you are happy. Stay warm.
