Our election night dinner experience was a good one. The lower level of the church was full of people enjoying their yummy dinners. We got our food to go. The menu consisted of coleslaw, turnips, beets, applesauce, corn, squash, carrots, mashed potatoes, chicken and biscuits, stuffing, gravy and roast pork. There was also a dessert table with a variety of home baked treats. Cake, apple pie, brownies, etc... All of the servers wore cloth church aprons with the slogan, "If the Colonel's cooking was this good, he would have been a general" Cute.

We later learned from one of C's co-workers that many people have been involved in this annual effort for years and the man who spearheads the dinner every year is Cornell educated and experienced in food prep for large groups. Further, we learned that all the food was hand prepared, nothing from a can is allowed. The squash was local (and I imagine the rest of the veggies were too) and the local corn that was served was hand shucked, cut off the cob and frozen to be saved for this specific event.
